AIRPORT NAMED AFTER REAL MADRID ACE
Cynics will argue the 32-year-old has just bought himself an airport in his homeland but report says it has just been named after the phenomenal forward who has won every prize football has to offer expect the FIFA World Cup.
The local government in Madeira where Cristiano Ronaldo was born have found another way to pay tribute to one of their favourite sons by naming the Aeroporto Da Madeiraan after him.
The signage went up on Friday ahead of the official unveiling on March 29, the day after Portugal take on Sweden in the island’s capital, Funchal.
Ronaldo’s latest landmark means he has followed in the footsteps of the likes of John Lennon after having a national property named in his honour.
It adds to a collection of Ronaldo-related establishments that have popped up over the last few years.
A museum has been opened in Madeira, while he has also launched two hotels in Funchal and Lisbon.
Ronaldo, who has picked up the Ballon d’Or four times in the last nine years is currently with the Portugal national team as they prepare to face Sweden in a friendly match on Tuesday.
